Located left of center is the Oregon Convention Center, best known for the twin spire towers which provide light into the buildings interior and for housing the worlds largest Foucault Pendulum. The large flat-roofed building, to the right in mid-distance, is the Rose Garden, a $267 million multipurpose arena and home of the NBA Portland Trail Blazers. Located near the confluence of the Willamette (shown meandering through the center of the picture) and Columbia rivers, Portlands economy has historically been tied to these rivers and their access to the Pacific Ocean.
